Vision

Restoring ancient Tuscan lands

No one says it better than our winemaker:

“I strongly believe in work, I strongly believe in people’s will and I believe in nature. At the same time I believe that the best wine is always the child of the place where it is born and that the complexity and grace of nature cannot be matched by our art. For this reason we must not dominate nature, but rather favor it and let it express itself in the clearest possible way. I believe that we as winemakers must have the humility to keep this in mind. As every sculptor knows that inside every piece of white marble there is a Venus de Milo, we know that in the grapes we grow there is the unique and in no way imitable imprint of the place where the vine is grown. Our goal is to be able to enhance the magic that, regardless of our will, resides in every grape.”

From wheat field to vineyard

The adventure began in 2015 when our family purchased a small, hilltop farm in the heart of Southern Tuscany. It was clear that this magical wheat field had the potential to become a special vineyard. The land included both a gorgeous south-facing amphitheater and abandoned grove of century-old olive trees.

But first, the olives

The first challenge was to restore the olive grove and implement organic farming practices to properly care for the magnificent lands. Just a year later, the pruning and restoration of the oliveto yielded award-winning Ultima Pietra Extra Virgin Olive Oil. Our family then carefully planted a small vineyard on this ancient Tuscan land with the goal of creating elegant, handcrafted wines.

Respect tradition and terroir

We are passionate about creating artisanal wines that reflect the unique properties of our special terroir. It is an honor and responsibility to care for these historic Tuscan lands. We are not interventionists but simply the caretakers of a magnificent hillside and trust in the power of the grapes to express their unique personalities in Ultima Pietra wines.
