Ultima Pietra Chardonnay 2020
Winemaker Notes
A noble 2020 Chardonnay, complete, enjoyable and with tremendous aging potential.
Fresh on the nose, beautiful aromas of lemon zest, apricot, sage with a minerality that moves toward fumée.
The sip is the quintessence of grace: freshness, marine salinity and flint define the framework of the wine. A light and sweet note of chestnut honey and ripe apricot satisfy the palate. The perception evolves in both an exciting and serious stimuli: fir resin, white pepper and sage reawaken the fumée.
A tense mouth, savoury and complex make this wine at the same time gentle, velvety, and sharp. We are honestly proud and really really in love.

Ultima Pietra Chardonnay 2019
Winemaker Notes
The first of everything Ultima Pietra. Chardonnay is a very delicate varietal, with skin like the most gentle of medieval princesses that does not bear the heat of the sun thus, the reason for planting on the north side of the Estate. 2019 was our first attempt—with a production so small that we thought we can just play with this harvest.
Clusters were picked, collected in small boxes and pressed with no de-stemming or crushing. The juice was fermented in a barrique, only one. Right after fermentation it was clear - no one was playing: tropical fruit, tangerine, acacia flowers, sunny colors and a great balance to this wine just born. The 7 months of elevage helped the wine express structure, harmony and complexity. The wine was bottled by gravity, by hand, unfined and unfiltered.

Winemaker Notes
Ultima Pietra is composed of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, united since late autumn 2019 so today in full amalgam.
The color is soft for its category, the ruby red reveals a warm and welcoming character.
The nose is a chorus that starts with fresh strawberry but quickly the more subtle, complex shades emerge - blood orange, coffee and pipe tobacco invite you to drink. The sip is clean, precise and enveloping. The structure and the gustatory stratification are elongated by a vibrant acidity.
Currant, mulberry, rose and juiciness begin the gustatory analysis which then continues to more serious notes: licorice, toasting and spices. A wine with gorgeous length and a gastronomic character.

UP is one of the most exciting Tuscan producers I've been turned onto in some time. It's rare for me to come across a new, young winery like this that seems to be doing everything right. The wines speak for themselves and stylistically they manage to have one foot on the international stage, while the other is firmly planted in Tuscan terra and tradition. A tough balance to strike but they pull it off while also having a very modern, forward-looking philosophy.
